The Popout Menu's have been created and now load properly in Mozilla. I am Only Implimenting them in Mozilla at this time. They are a pure CCS2.1 solution and don't work correctly in MS IE5.x/6/(and as of the current beta 7), I quit, its not worth the hassle at this point. The content of the popout menu can be accessed by clicking on the Category name on the Menu in IE, this will then load the list of articles for that Category. DARK MEETING

A Short Story of Epithna
By
William E. Dunn Jr.

In the center of the Dark sea, off the western side of the continent know as Outerland, there is a single rock that rises above the turbulent waters. This Rock only the height of a young child having just been weaned from mothers milk, and still again that wide on a side, is not an ordinary bit of stone poking its ugly blasted and rough face through the waters of this still uglier and blacker sea. This Bit of stone, looking like so much waste thrown from the heart of a Volcano, is the top most part of the Great magic Crystal of Dark magic. This Crystal extending back through the sea and the earth below it until reaching the Great Crystal Globe deep at the center of Epithna, that feeds all magic, Good, Evil, And Neutral.
Along the length of this Crystal lies a cavern much like, other subterranean Caverns that lie below the surface of the world. It is Dark, though not just a darkness of light, very dark in this cavern This cavern is subject to being much darker than most others because the Crystal passes through it, but not just for that reason. This cavern is also Home to a race of creatures that are themselves Black, Dark and Evil at heart. Within this cavern lies Denciet Na Gora?-Dov, The Home or City of Elves Fallen, the center of the Dark Elven Nation. Few know just how large the Gora?-Dov nation is, only that this lost, dark, and forsaken place is its center. It is here that all the Gora?-Dov call home, and owe their allegiance too.
*********************
He had awakened not in body, not yet the time for that had not come yet there was still much repair and healing that must take place before that could happen. He had for now Awakened only in Spirit, for this task a much better form at the moment, as his detonation would be much easier to reach. He awakened now in spirit form to begin the work that he would complete some years hence in more worldly form.
Slowly as if not sure as yet how much force he could exert, how much power he might be able to tap, he pulled his spirit free of the Blasted, wreaked, and wasted body that it inhabited, that even now struggled to come back to life. The body that had nearly been destroyed some two hundred years before in the final battle of the second great war. The body that had nearly been destroyed altogether taking his spirit with it. He wondered if that would not have been such a bad thing. It seemed such a relief to escape from that torture even for the briefest time.
After pulling free he found that his sister and fellow disciple, had supplied him with exactly what he needed, and as just the right time, she always had been good at what she did. On the floor of the Tomb that his Body lay in was another. He paused for a moment to examine the form on the floor. A young Gora?-Dov, freshly slaughtered, the blood still gushing from the whole in its chest where a heart had once beat only moments before. He was sure his sister was making a meal of that even now. He thought he heard small gasps, and moans not of pain, but of pleasure. Pleasure from having been such a gratifying sacrifice for the furtherance of his kinds goals, or from the pleasure that he was sure his sister had allowed the young Gora?-Dov to take in her body even as he was about to die. He knew that pleasure to be considerable for he had taken part in it many times himself. It Must have been a special Pleasure for this young Gora?-Dov to fuck his goddess, even as the Black Widow spiders she adored she killed her mate. She did so much love her people after all and wished them the best even when she had to make use of them for her, or her Lords designs.
The body despite the hole in its chest, a small matter since the heart was a useless Organ anyway, was fit and strong, lean of muscle, not the lean of the under feed, but that of one who took pride in their fitness. The Gora?-Dov appeared to have been in his early 150?s perhaps a bit younger. White hair covered the head, and framed the face, a stark contrast to the charcoal Black skin of the Gora?-Dov?s Face. The hair was long a bit longer, than that for most of the Gora?-Dov race as a whole, but then the higher in class, the longer the hair tended to be grown, and he would need to be of a very high class to complete this mission. The rest of the body was pretty much as could be expected of the entire Elfish race in general, long angular features, pointed ears, though the points on this Gora?-Dov seemed especially sharp.
Now that he had seen the Body from the outside, he moved on to the inside. Slowly moved his spirit form toward the body on the floor. Sending forth a tendril of thought he slowly began to integrate himself in to the Gora?-Dov. He was strong! Even as the Gora?-Dov died there was fight left in the mind, fighting the inevitable death and take over it would suffer but moments hence. He pushed a bit harder into the mind, forced back for a second, and then as the dying mind ebbed pushing his way in, forcing the old inhabitant into submission. He would keep this old mind just at the brink of death until he was finished with this body. Until then he could feed on it, use it for his purposes. The young Gora?-Dov screamed, but once, a scream related more to orgasm, than to any sort of pain.
Retsam assumed control of the body, and the mind within it, able to once again think for himself and a rational fashion, able to even dread-up and remember his own name. The body seemed to at that instant darken, if that is possible for a Dark Elf, to become as black as the darkest night, as the evilest thought, all at once.
?Ah, My sister you have done well, this creature is magnificent, and will serve me well... I trust it served you well in is death also.? Retsam said to the shadowed form that had just entered the room, stretching his new arms before him and looking the body over. Ah to be young and powerful again!
?Ummm, Yes it did my brother, care to give it a try yourself? Genka replied a bit lustily, Adjusting her Robes, and licking the last of the Blood from her lips.
?A tempting offer, my sister, but having only recently returned to this Plane of Existence, fear that Such....Exertions would be a bit much for me at the moment.? ?Anytime dear brother? Genka seemed a bit disappointed, as only a slut with her best client limp beneath the sheets could be. ?Enough of this!!!!!, and you shall address me as who I am, from now forward!!? Boomed Retsam suddenly enraged by his sister?s behavior. He reached out and back handed her across the face., summoning his powering a throwing a lighting bolt into her, to enforce his point.
Genka, rose a bit straighter, of back, and much of Purpose, rigidly defiant, and strong in stature.
?THEN, Let us be about our task, Great Lord of Evil and Chaos Retsam, Son and Disciple of Devneer.?
?Much better sister, Let us be away, there are subjects that must need be reminded of where their obligations and loyalties lie. And I intend to enforce that point? Retsam spoke meaningfully, firing still more lighting into Genka until she screamed in agony, and begged for mercy. ?Remember sister? Retsam grinned evilly watching his sister writhe on the floor in pain.
**************
Den Au Den sat behind the Large Ebony Desk, in his dimly lit office apartments. Den being the only recognized leader of the Gora?-Dov people bore a burdensome responsibility. That being to try to impose some sort of order on his subjects. A task Den was sure that even the Gods would have troubles doing. Den felt quite tired and worn from the business that was at hand, as usual he had spent much of the day trying to resolve the many disputes that his people had among themselves. Den longed for the times of the past. The times when the Second Great War, and the Knights of The Sword, had given his people a common enemy to battle. Then his people had been united, putting aside the internal troubles to battle that common foe. Now his people having nothing better on their minds, and nothing better to do with their time, turned on themselves. Denciet Na Gora?-Dov was in turmoil the Evil and Chaos that were its life blood now seemed to be slowly picking it apart. Den sat squarely at the center of it all attempting to hold it all together.
Den Push back from the Desk, sighing painfully, feeling the need to sleep, and to be active at the same time. He looked about the room in search of something to distract his attention for even the briefest moment. The was a Knock on the door of his Office, as that distraction came. ?Enter? Boomed Den in his deep commanding voice.
Cedoun Be AtDa, Den?s lead servant, and maybe the closest thing that he or any Gora?-Dov could ever have to a friend, poked his head through the door. Cedoun, had always been there as long as Den could remember, and always would be, as he was a slave, Cedoun?s entire family were slaves. Den?s Family had pressed Cedoun?s into the servitude some six centuries before, for some revenge related reason that the principal parties had now forgotten. Cedoun was good at what he did serving Den as a councilor, and confidant of sorts, and the relationship seemed to be not so much master and slave anymore, but more the friendship that Den had convinced himself existed.
?Gendiie? Cedoun spoke the Gora?-Dov term for master, breaking Den from his thoughts, about how little that term meant.
?There are two Gora? to see you. Will you meet with them??
?Who are they, and what do they want of me?? ?One I think Gendiie is your Son, although he looks different, darker, if that possible, a fine young Gora? if I may so Gendiie, It will be a pleasure to serve him, after he kills you Gendiie? Cedoun meant not a word of it, like most he hated Gelre Au Den, notorious for doing evil unto his own people, but it was customary to make such scrapings to ones master, and probable future master, it tended to extend ones life. ?And the Other?? Den Questioned choosing to ignore the previous comments knowing how little that Cedoun really meant them, he was not overly fond of his Son either, but then what kind of leader would he make for his people if his own father liked him. ?I think a women of some type, I can not be sure, Gendiie, she...it is wrapped in robes that I cannot fathom the depths of. The stature and bearing seems that of a Female though, and the walk is unmistakable.? Cedoun could not help but for a moment think how he would like to contribute to the activities that caused that walk.
Ah so my son has found himself a ?consort thought Den to himself pausing for a moment to consider the appropriate term deciding to be gracious and wait till he had meet the she-elf before making judgment.
?Tell him that I do not wish him to waste my time this day, I am much to tired and troubled from this day for his pitiable ramblings.?
?Ah, yes Gendiie, I ?shall tell him? Cedoun replied somewhat troubled.
?What troubles you salatr do as I have told, he is my son bothersome, but more dirt than even you. ?
?Yes Gendiie but? he seemed rather insistent, even when I told him much the same?
?No matter tell him to be away that I wish not to be troubled by his discursive ramblings, he also knows better than to challenge you my right and voice. He will listen he knows better than to bother me when I warn him away, or?? Den left the sentence hanging the possible results of his son bothering him were well known. Once a Gora? child, especially the child of the leader, was old enough to hold a dagger beloved child he was no longer. The child became a rival like all the rest, and in the case of the Au Den m?nage a most dangerous rival as the right of succession frequently involved murder. In succession of Den au Den?s position, it always involved murder, his fathers heart had tasted good. When Den had pushed his father Relga, Den had received the attention of his father well enough. That attention had taken the form of a lighting bolt, Den had lost three fingers for his trouble, when he threw up his hand reflexively to block it. Den looked down at his left hand. This did not go unnoticed by Cedoun.
Cedoun with drew wordlessly. Den turned back to his work. Den felt confident that he would not be bothered today with things that he did not yet feel ready to deal with, yet it was about time that his son made an attempt at the succession. Den had started trying almost from the time that he had understood what his birthright meant. Gelre had not once so far made any attempt on his life, it was strange and Den was beginning to wonder.. If the attempt did not come soon he might be forced to rid himself of Gelre and sire another more suitable heir. Living for to long in relative comfort might begin to dull Den?s senses.
**********
Cedoun made his way back along the corridor that lead to the outer room where Prince Gelre and his companion waited. Cedoun knew that it was likely that his life might be forfeit in the coming exchange, such was an inevitable consequence of serving the Au Den m?nage. Cedoun?s father had died when Den had poisoned Relga?s wine, and Cedoun?s father had been forced to drink the cup when Relga had distrusted the contents. Cedoun felt confident that Den had just sent him to his death instead of Den facing that death instead. Cedoun arrived at the door and paused. It was likely that Gelre expected that Den would be the next to pass through that door and the attempt would come then in ambush. Cedoun decided that despite the fact that his life would one day be forfeit to his lords family, he wished to continue to live this day if possible. Cedoun stepped to the hinge side of the door and pulled it open so as to use it as a shield if some object or spell should be hurled as it opened .
Retsam tensed when he heard the latch on the door leading to Den Au Den?s chambers rattle, after having it wait for so long he was unsure exactly what he was going to do to the Gora?-Dov leader first. The door creaked open slowly and Retsam began to gather the will to throw his spell. Wasted effort if seemed as the door opened and there was no one there. Retsam stepped forward for a better look down the hall, perhaps a spell or trap protected it. The Gora? where known for their murderous nature so it would not be at all out of the ordinary for them to try such a thing. He cast out with his senses but could detect no magic if it was protected it was by a more mundane mechanism. Retsam cast a spell of warding about himself and Genka if an trap were sprung it would simply bounce off to no effect.
Cedoun waited for several long moments, but it seemed that no attack was forthcoming. Cedoun eased out from behind the door. The attack came he was grabbed by some invisible force and thrown to the wall. He hit the wall hard like some child?s doll thrown in rage. He felt his head crack and all was black.
Retsam saw the form step out from behind the door. Den might turn out to be smarted than he had thought. Retsam loosed a Hand of force and grabbed the form before it had finished stepping out. He threw the body against the side of the hall opposite the door with all the power he had, he wanted Den Au Den on his own terms and crumpled on the floor begging for mercy was a good start. The body ht with a satisfying thump like a ripe melon hitting. Au Den would have a good headache if and a crack from that, Perfect.
Retsam stepped forward into the hall now that was in the hall, he could see that the body was in fact not Den Au Den. He looked down at Cedoun crumpled on the floor a small trickle of blood making a dark red pool beneath the head.
?Pity, really he was a good servant to his master, very loyal for a slave.? Retsam reflected aloud.
?Makes little difference this shall only serve to enforce our point brot?Lord? Genka caught herself remembering the earlier punishment she had received.
?Wake him, I still have need for him?
?Yes Lord? Genka concentrated a moment on the body on the floor sending a bit of he own energy into it to bring it around. ?Uhhh, ummm? Grumbled Cedoun as he came around. He looked up and saw Gelre and the she-elf standing over him. It seemed that in the ten years since Gelre had been last seen he had become a powerful Magi or his companion was a Maga. It seemed Gelre planned a special death for his father, fitting as Den had rejected the Mage arts that Relga had practiced. For Gelre to kill his father Den, with the Mage arts that his grandfather has practiced, but Den had never taken to, such sweet irony.
?Lord?.?Began Cedoun
?Even I am my reputation known!? Retsam cut in smiling wickedly.
?Yes, My lord I know you? replied Cedoun somewhat puzzled he had know Gelre since birth the comment seemed strange.
?You not Den Au Den, where he?? Commanded not so much as questioned Retsam
?Y-You know where Lord ?
?Where He?? Retsam did not know and he tired of this game. He called the hand of force again using it this time to pull the broken Gora?s blood out through every pore in his body. ?Tell Me where to find him? Cedoun Screamed in agony, yes Gelre had definitely become a powerful Magi. ?Ah?My lord H..He is in his office chambers? Those were Cedoun?s final words, as he lay there covered in his own blood skin dark red of it instead of black.
Retsam looked to Genka.
?He is beyond my power, he serves Lord father in the Beyond now?
Retsam bent down and picked up the body from its pool of blood, Cedoun was gone, but Retsam still had a final use for the body. ?Come sister, our task awaits, and I think it shall be a hard one, with a salatr this strong I fear that our intended?partner shall be a hard adversary.?
Retsam began walking and Genka followed, pausing only to dip her hand in the pool of blood on the floor, licking it clean as she silently followed her brother. As Retsam walked down the hall the body cradled in one arm, he worked quickly with the knife in his other hand first slicing open the belly, and then cutting the eyes from the body. The eyes Retsam ate, and ancient legend holding that doing so gave the eater insight in dealing with those that the deceased had contact with in life. The body and its entrails he made as great a mess as possible. No matter how great an adversary Den Au Den might be Retsam intended, to show he meant business, and would tolerate no foolishness in this business.
************
Den sat in his office staring at the wall thinking to himself what form the murder that his son was most likely planning might take when it came. The events of earlier in the evening intrigued him and he found it difficult to concentrate on his work now. Gelre had never seemed to take to anything in particular in life not the arts of the assassin, warriors, clerics, or Mage. He supposed that in the years since Gelre had last disappeared that Gelre might have acquired such skills. It was all very interesting.
Den?s thoughts were disrupted when the door to his office flew open and something barely recognizable as a body flew through crashing into the wall above and behind the desk he was seated at. De could hear the bones of the body crack and snap as it hit the wall with incredible force. The body bounced off the wall to fall forward and land in a crushed bleeding heap on Den?s desk. Looking now more like a water skin than anything that had once been humanoid the body lay on his desk. Bones jutting out from it here and there and blood and other body fluids oozing from everywhere. Den after a moment realized that the body was that of Cedoun. It seemed that Gelre would be quite insistent about seeing him, Den had hoped to delay this. Cedoun lay dead, for a rare time Den was actually moved on an emotional level he would miss Cedoun in some way. This went to far he was Gelre?s target not his servants, this over stepped the code of honor that was involved in the succession, what little honor that Gora?-Dov had anyway. Gelre would pay for this and if at all possible and with in Den?s power with his life.
Den Looked up and saw Gelre striding through the door the form, no definitely a she-elf behind. Yes the boy had grown and he was confident and strong as was obvious from his walk. Den wondered quickly if Cedoun?s death and arrival in the room, was Gelre?s doing or the woman?s. Den quickly saw that it was Gelre?s doing, he had inherited the family penchant for magic and this was his intended path of succession.
No matter resolved Den he had defeated a magic wielding rival for power in his father, he would defeat the treat of his son just the same. ?Stop there Gelre! You have come far enough already? Commanded Den
?Enough these games we have much discuss Au Den? Began Retsam as almost the same instant ?What you dare command me! If I did not have need of you I would kill you now?
?I am not in the mood for your ramblings Gelre, I have much of import upon my mind and your intrusion is not helpful or desired at the moment?
Retsam reached out with a hand of force and slammed Den Au Den into his chair. ?You dare?.If my sister and I had not matters of import to discuss with you. If I did not need you and your kin?..? Retsam yelled menacingly.
?Y-You, have no sister?
?And how would you know that??
?Have you become that stupid or drunk with power my son? That you do not remember your own family, who is this harlot?? Den was picked up and thrown against the wall behind his desk, held there by some invisible force. ?How dare you?.? Began the figure in the robes, definitely female, as she pulled back the hood, then let the robes fall to the floor. Under the robes she wore a tight black leather dress cut low at the bodice and short at the thigh. Her white hair streaked down the center with a single black stripe. Den knew his mistake instantly.
?Oh Unholy Genka forgive I did not know?I thank you for taking my son to your side with your guidance he shall make a fitting successor to me? Den dropped to the floor with a hallow thud. ?It seems you choose well my sister, you have given me his son? Retsam commented to Genka in the old Language which Den did not understand ?And he knows you for who you are, this may be easier than I had thought?
Guards alerted by the noise burst forth from a secret passage hidden in the wall off the side of Den?s desk arrows flew forth and swords were drawn as they entered. The arrows bounced off in front of the two invaders as if they carried shields that were not there. The swords bounced in the same way, clanging off again as if there were shields that did not exist. The guard were rewarded for their efforts by being thrown to the sides of the chamber against the walls, several threw the single window that looked out over the city. I few were simply burned to ash where they stood, screams echoing throughout the chamber.
Two guards held back an took up position over Den, not attacking, but standing defense. ?You Dare!? Boomed Retsam ?With thought I could crush you, no matter my dealings not you stand Guard you think will help. I conduct my business none less.?
?My son I beg you finish this now, to draw out the succession is to dishonor ways of our people. Kill me take your place as leader of our people?
?Ah, but I am not done with you yet Den au Den, I have much planned for you and your descendants you shall continue for years hence, Now we have much to discuss and I Have but limited time and energy for it. My dealings so far have tired me and there is much we must take to task before these dealings are done?
Den was picked up again this time gently by the invisible force and placed into his chair. The guards moved to stand to either side of his desk, swords still drawn and ready should the attack continue. A futile gesture, but better to die in action defending m?nage Au Den, then by inaction.
?Now we have much to discuss so shall we begin?
?What do you wish of me so important as to dishonor the ways of our people, maybe forced to kill you the retain you honor?
?You could not!, stop making your useless threats and claims to honor, you shall still have your to retain honor, but for now you must wait Salatr?? Cautioned Retsam using the Gora?-Dov term for Slave.
?You dare!!!?
?You Know not yet who I am?? Questioned Retsam
?Then I shall begin there?
?No, you shall begin with what you know of my descendants, as it seems that I might have to end my line here with your death?
Retsam casually shot a small bolt of lighting at Den ?I warned you once do not tempt me again there are other people, and other ways to accomplish my goals, but you are by far the easiest and most convenient, and I wish to end this quickly.?
?Who are you then? Who thinks himself greater than the leader of the Gora?-Dov, if you are no Gelre my son as you seem to be then who are you??
?I am not your son, but the son of one greater than you?I am the son of Devneer, I am Retsam, your son has died to serve me.? ?Impossible Retsam lies between life and death waiting for the day of his return in the Crystal chamber??
?Fool did you think I would spend the next 500 years there wasting away as your dark Clerics and Magen, work at my body. There is much to do and I have not that much time to waste. Still I offer you proof?? Retsam pulled back the side of his tunic to reveal the hole in the body?s chest where Gelre?s heart once beat ??where I not Retsam would this be possible??
Den stared in horror at the gapping hole, seeing now that the claims this Gora? made just might be true.
?I am sorry my Lord, I should have known sooner, how might I serve you, and our master Devneer??
?Am so you have finally come to realize the truth, now might we make some progress.? Began Retsam, continuing after a reflective pause ?It is not so much what you might do for us, as what we offer to do for you in return that should be your concern. How long has your family lead the Gora?-Dov? As I remember as long as Denciet Na Gora?-Dov has existed, and this is Because??
?Because none in my family has ever failed the test, we have all been strong enough of will and sprit to withstand Mistress Genka?s?ah testing? The test is a personal rite of passage that all young Gora?-Dov males must pass to be accepted into adulthood and take their place in the Gora?-Dov society. Those who fail the test are punished for the failure by transformation into a creature half spider and elf doomed to serve the society that they have failed in this form for the rest of their existence. Some few who prove that they are of stronger substance than the usual dregs that this fate befalls are taken by Genka herself to serve as her personal Guards. It is said that those Gora? who hold high position in Gora?-Dov society are tested by Genka herself, most failed. This assured that only the greatest of their kind lead the Gora?-Dov, No one of Menage Au Den had ever Failed.
?And it shall continue that way, in fact if you serve us well I can promise that it shall be so for all eternity.?
?What is it you wish, you know that you and you lord have the loyalty of my people and my family, now and always.?
?Yes, But there will be certain sacrifices that you and others of your Family shall have to make in the coming war, I cannot tell you of them now. But I must have your promise that when the time comes that those sacrifices will me accepted and made??
?Yes, lord we shall do as you command?
?Ah, but stop a moment think of what you promise, you promise not only for yourself, but for your entire Menage now and those to come after you. You set forth a heavy burden for those that follow you, one that they my find more burdensome than you do. But when you consider what they will gain in return I think it fair bargain at that, what I give is ultimate power among your people something that no other Gora?-Dov can or ever will have outside of you family. The security of knowing that they shall never fail the test?
?My lord you honor me and my family, but what you promise seems so unreal how can you make this promise. The fear of Failure is what makes us strong, keeps us vital and powerful among our people how can we be assured of the strong people and leaders that surely your plans will require.?
?I am sure, aren?t I sister??
?Yes Brother we can be sure that no male heir of Menage Au Den shall ever fail us again.? Replied Genka with a somewhat mysterious tone in her voice ?Very Sure?
?Yes My Lord, but might I ask what these sacrifices I-We must make are to be.?
?Umm, you ask a question that I may not answer, at least not fully, I am powerful, but the future is too ever changing to know exactly what might be required. Still I must have your promise that whatever might be asked will be fulfilled, but remember that what will happen should you or they fail will make they who failed me long for the agony of failing the test.?
?I understand and accept my Lord as surely you knew I would from the beginning?
?Aye, so I did as the Gora?-Dov have always served well the Master, still we who serve Evil and Chaos though powerful can never be truly sure of our allies. With your promise and its consequence I can be somewhat certain that you can be trusted. I have other reasons also for why you and your descendants may be trusted. First, what you have given up, what you must know, and the additional sacrifices that I require of you?promises that must be made.?
?It shall be as you require Lord?
?He Knows not what he says I think sister!?
stated Retsam, Genka simply smiled knowingly ?First and not even as I had planned you have sacrificed you son to our cause. We have had I easy one you really as you would have had to kill him anyway, but he has served all the better as my vessel of return. I know you Gora?-Dov have not love of your children still you should be proud? Retsam choked a bit as he finished his statement. ?Second, you shall have to make sure of the deaths of all of your family, all of them must die no matter how remote the branch all must die, only you can remain of your line, only you shall live unchallenged, the only claimant of your line?
Retsam choked again harder this time.
?But my Lord with my line ended, but for myself and my son dead who shall lead my people and continue your promises after my death?
?You will sire another heir, and that heir will take your place and lead your people in the coming events? Retsam wheezed a bit and grimaced in pain. ?But who, and when???
Retsam ignored the question and continued. ?Your two best men I must have, to protect yourself and your future ? Queen? Retsam coughed now and grimaced again in pain ?My time grows short this vessel can not much longer hold my power it begins to break of the strain?
?But we lead not by king or queen simply the succession of my family chosen by Genka so many years ago the lead when we came here after separating from the rest of the Drow race, to establish a better more powerful and pure society? Den nodded to Genka in reverence ?Ah, but my child such I did then, but now it is time for a change, long have I let things be as they where when you arrived. When your Great Grandfather Ferte arrived and put Qerha to her death for her madness of the years in her quest, beginning the succession. Only men would use murder as a path to power over their own people, the time for a change has come.? Began Genka
Retsam coughed again
?No male of your family shall ever fail the test again as we have promised because you are the last from now forward your family shall bear only females, and they shall lead as Queens as was always meant to be.? Genka hissed ?Now about those Guards, after all the future of our pact and you heir must be watched over. These two seem strong and loyal? Genka stated casting a glance at the guards standing by Den?s side. The guards gasped in horror and shock as they realized what was about to happen to them. Genka waved a hand an spoke a single word, geriu, Spider. The guards fell to the floor each trying in vain to fall upon their blades before the magic took them.
The Guards bent to a fetal position curled in a tight ball as the pain took them. They screamed in horror. There skin of the guards torso began to pulse and bubble and eight small lumps to appear. Their legs to swell in thickness and shorten in length. Torsos began pulsing like a heart beat expanding with each pulse. The lumps growing that there sides began oozing, puss and blood. The guards continued to scream a dry hallow scream of the damned. The lumps at the sides suddenly exploded in a shower of blood and torn flesh. From the sides exploded long thin spider like legs jointed and twitching. After a moment after the legs had extended them selves they picked the guards up off the floor. The screams ended as the guards now stood before their goddess mother newly reborn, to serve.
?My servants now that you have experienced the pain of your mothers at your birth through your rebirth. Serve well and let no other pain stop you in your service? ?All is in place and the Gora?-Dov are now joined in earnest to out Masters plans, my time in this vessel is near its end I must go?.? Retsam began again ?But my Lord you still have not told me who shall bear my new heir, certainly your plans involve a particular?? ?Ah yes, there is a certain servant of the master who shall serve that need? Retsam was coughing constantly now. ?My sister shall bear your heir?.? ?Brother!??Genka began in shock ?Silence it is as the master commands and requires, it shall be done? Genka?s look of shock dissolved into a look of satisfaction and desire. Den recoiled in shock and horror as the realization of what his final sacrifice was to be settled on him.
*********
Retsam took one last look at the body he was in, in the mirror on the wall of his tomb. It had been a strong young powerful body.. The body now was broken, bleeding, and misshapen; corrupted by his power destroyed the body from inside to out. Retsam looked at the body within the crypt, his own in much the same condition, but healing. The Gora?-Dov clerics and magen where doing a good if slow job of restoring it, all would be well and when the time came all would be ready for the return. Not only his return, but the return of his master. Retsam grinned evilly as he left the body leaving that wicked expression upon its face. In the body?s final death throw Retsam drew off the final bit of life energy in the body to augment his own. Retsam returned to his own body, to rest and plan, there was still much to do, for now he must wait. \All is well my son, you have done well\ a voice rasped a final thought in his mind as Retsam returned to sleep.
